Spring is here! At least I hope so ... A new season is also slowly arriving in the Maschenfein team with regard to the knitting projects. Some, however, are still finishing their cozy winter project. But read for yourself: Here is the latest round of "On the needles"!

Concentration required

Sandra always impresses me - currently with her stamina. Her current knitting project definitely requires concentration (the finished result is all the more rewarding!):

This squirrel is feeding very laboriously, as I can only use the needles to a very limited extent so as not to jeopardize the healing of my arm. But things are moving in the right direction and my baguette jacket has grown a bit, following a pattern by Soumine Kim. So I'm still pretty much in winter knitting mode, even though the early bloomers are starting to appear in the garden. Instead of Como Grande with Premia, I'm knitting with two strands of Como + Premia for color reasons. And with the great Forté needle tips, the pattern knits just that little bit better!

Marisa is also very committed to her current project - and has a lot of other things on her to-do list!

The last few weeks have been turbulent, as moving the Maschenfein office and attending the E-Commerce Expo in Berlin, plus the normal everyday madness, have left me little room for knitting. However, I have made some progress on my Brevue sweater made from Cashmere Classic by Cardiff and Sensai by Ito. The squirrel eats hard! But in March I'll be spending a few hours on the train and of course we'll be ending the evenings at the h+h trade fair in Cologne with extensive rounds of knitting. So I'm confident that I'm making good progress now so that the test knitting can start soon!

Spring may be (almost) here, but it's still very fresh in the mornings and evenings. Soon no longer a problem for Judith:

After many head coverings of all kinds, I am finally back to my Moby Neck from PetiteKnit. I received the yarn as a gift from my colleague Mirjam - she had some left over and remembered my bright eyes when we saw the color for the first time during a joint visit to our warehouse. It is Sandnes yarn: Tweed Recycled in the color magenta. I am also very proud of the pattern. It took a while, but now I've got it figured out. On the photo you can see the back, now the front and the turtleneck are still missing. The perfect transition piece for "under the spring coat" ... I'm really looking forward to it!

Spring sends its regards

The next three posts will be really spring-like. Mirjam kicks things off with a gift:

This month I have the ALWAYS 4-EVER UNICORN SWEATER from Wool & Beyond on the needles. The cute unicorn sweater is for my daughter's birthday - so it's a secret. When I saw the design for the first time in our chat history, I knew I had to make it! Luckily, my daughter is really into it right now 😉.

I'm knitting it in Merry Merino 110 from Kremke Soul Wool, because my daughter doesn't like anything fluffy. But you can't go wrong with merino! 🦄🦄🦄

Our working student Hannah has already chosen a summer project:

I've already got summer knitting fever, so I recently knitted up the Hope Top. As an alternative to the knitting kit, I'm using Bio Balance from BC Garn. In the process, I finally learned how to knit cables without a cable needle. You can't quite tell yet that it's going to be a pretty summer top, but summer is still a long way off.

Chris' contribution this month shows that stash yarn sometimes comes in handy:

The short pre-spring period promptly disrupted my beautiful knitting plans and I spontaneously cast on the Freestyle Shirt by Paula_M. I still had Summer in Cashmere from BC Garn in a bright berry color in my stash from last year. I'm sure it will be great!
However, I haven't got too far yet, as some really adorable Easter crochet items will soon be moving into our store and I simply have to get my crochet hook swinging. By the way, more of these pretty decoration ideas will be coming soon from Sophia and Louisa 🙂

When spring calls, the Mother's Day shawl is not far away. It won't be long now, I promise! One of the samplers is currently on Louisa's needles.

As you can see, you can't see anything 😉 Or at least not much. The Mother's Day shawl 2025 is currently on my needles, but that will have to remain a secret until the end of the month. But I can already reveal this much: It is knitted from a light merino yarn and is really fun to knit. I'm making good progress row by row and am really looking forward to finishing it, which will require yet another technique. I'll just say that I'm already getting my crochet hook ready!

Barbara shows that homework and knitting projects go well together. She continues to make progress on the needles while her daughter does math.

We've been really busy. Math and knitting simply go very well together! 🦄

The design is the Olive Cardigan Child from Knitting For Olive. I knit with Merino from Knitting for Olive in the color Unicorn Purple and Brushlight from Cardiff Cashmere in the color Muji.

And me? Once again, I got weak just before the change of season.

But the Port Jacket from Ozetta Knitwear is also too beautiful! And as I'm on vacation in Denmark in April, I can already see myself wearing this jacket on the beach. The pure new wool yarn Léttlopi from Ístex also fits in with my winter wardrobe - last season I just had it with robust yarns. But soon cotton, linen and silk will be back on the needles!

Men's knitwear (Aran knitwear patterns) can also appear in the block.
What do you think?

Greetings Kozma

Yesterday after the podcast episode I ordered the mini shawl book from you, the Minava shawl is my favorite 😍. But while it's still on its way, I'm knitting two things: Bonnie dress from Sandnes Garn and Mouliné Cardigan from Lene Holme Samsøe. Best regards!
