The last month of the year has begun! And despite the delay due to the cold, we naturally want to show you what's on the needles in the Maschenfein team in December too.
And don't worry: we're also sometimes under pre-Christmas stress and don't get to knit as much as we'd like. So we're all in the same boat - but we still want to inspire you. Have fun reading!
Now at the latest it can sparkle
As you know, I like to sparkle in every way at Christmas and New Year's Eve. So I'm delighted that our working student Charlotte seems to be doing the same:
A little late, I also got caught up in the sequin hype and knitted the EmiScarf by Sinchens in the colors Rose Anemore and Cloud (color suggestion "Rose cool"). It's the perfect mindless knitting project to be able to switch off a bit during my upcoming exam period.
Sandra was also looking for a knitting project to switch off. But she didn't count on the boss ...
I was looking for a mindless project to balance out the pattern knitting for my baguette jacket. Marisa told me about a new design and that her notes still needed to be shaped so that they could become pattern. She had me at the word "semi-patent" at the latest. At the beginning, however, it wasn't really mindless, but rather escape knitting: find the way from Marisa's notes to a tutorial. 😅
But the tricky parts have now been mastered and now it's actually very mindless. It will be a while before the pattern for our Nile Sweater are ready to go into the store and you can knit this little piece of cream in Como Cashmere from Lamana, because the pattern still have to be graded and tested. Good things take time. But in any case, you can look forward to lots of knitting fun!
Our developer Judith also knows the balance between projects that you "knit away" and those that require a little more concentration. Just keep alternating!
I've just finished the Olso hat from Petite Knit for a friend (sewing the threads - how long can that take 😉 ... ) and am knitting the Moby Neck in a similar color at the same time, which I'll show you next time. I also finished the Geheimding hat for my aunt... sounds a bit like assembly line work - but a very cozy assembly line in the Christmas spirit with tee and cookies!
Other nice little things
You can see another headdress from the second developer Barbara - as always, finely thought out with a view to the gauge.
I am knitting the November Balaclava from PetiteKnit in Cardiff Cashmere Large & Brushlight in the color Muji. The gauge swatch (hehehe!) tells me that the hat will grow by about a third when worn and washed - so it looks like a baby hat when knitted. But it's actually for myself and knitted so quickly that it will keep me cozy through the pre-Christmas season 🎄.
From the head down to the feet. That's where Chris is currently knitting.
When it comes to Christmas presents, I like to use the typical clichés and put - of course: socks under the tree! And I was delighted when we added my favorite sock yarn Jawoll from Lang Yarns to the store. I filled up my stash straight away and will quickly make sure that my family and friends have nice warm feet.
I particularly like knitting according to the "SOXX" patterns from Stine & Stitch. The patterns are just great and knitting never gets boring. The books have been on my shelf for quite a while and I always like to pick them up. Of course we also have them in the store!
The third developer in our team is also in the Christmas spirit: Mirjam has realized that she needs a Christmas sweater!
Sophia has infected me with early Christmas fever this year. So I'm knitting not just one, but two Christmas sweaters - the Kristtjørn Sweater from Hanne Rimmen for me and the Holly Sweater from Knitting for Olive for my daughter. Partner looks are very popular at the moment - I actually wanted to be finished by December 1st so that I could wear the sweaters in the run-up to Christmas ...
This month Louisa shows you that sometimes you need a change of pace when knitting. Sometimes it has to be the second or third project ...
I was fed up with my projects because of various things and wanted to do something good for myself. A test knitting call and my idea to knit this model with cashmere came at just the right time 😉.
That's why I'm now knitting the Brigid Top by MrsFunnyValentine in the test from Cashmere Classic by Cardiff in the color Memphis. My choice of yarn is slightly thinner than the original. But my stitch test has shown that the cashmere fluffs up wonderfully and produces a beautifully loose, but not too "holey" knit. And I certainly won't be cold when I wear this cozy top under my Audrey jacket at Christmas. You can look forward to the pattern in the new year. The pattern is sooo much fun and knits away like nothing.
Not a Christmas present, but a belated birthday present is on Jule's needles:
I'm in gift production (in addition to all the other projects I showed you a few months ago....) and am knitting an Oslo Hat from PetiteKnit for my boyfriend. Unfortunately, his birthday is already over, but he'll still be wearing the hat afterwards 😉 It will be a fan hat for Mainz 05 and the lettering is already well done. I'm using Merino 120 from Lang Yarns, there are great colors here and the yarn is not sensitive.
I've been "influencing" myself while writing about Christmas and it was clear: I won't be able to make a proper Christmas sweater with a gingerbread man and candy canes, but ...
... I suddenly had the Julegrynet from Sandnes in my Instagram timeline. Knitted from fritid yarn (yes, 100% pure Norwegian wool), it would also go over the needles in no time at all. And can I tell you something? The status on the picture is "old" - instead, the sweater is finished and the last piece is drying on the dressmaker's dummy. I've learned so much while knitting it, even though it's not difficult at all. But Fair Isle is a completely different knitting technique. Now I'm definitely looking forward to wearing it!

I love cardigans in brioche more than anything. That's why I cast on the Marie cardigan by Miriam Walchshäusl as soon as it was released. I happened to see a photo of a test knitter and was blown away. I knit it in Moonstone by Karen Noe. This yarn has been in my stash for a long time and fits perfectly. So I've already made a resolution for 2025. I really need to work through my stash before the moths get it.
Lulu Slipover is on my needles. I've just worked lengthwise buttonholes in double knitting for the first time - even after 50 years you're still learning. They turned out great. At the same time, an Oslo hat from Petiteknit has to be cast on again as it is unfortunately too big.
Keep knitting, dear knitters.
