{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}
I had a plan. For January, at least. I didn't want to make too many resolutions (we all know how these things end all too easily), but starting the new year with a bit of structure - that's something!
Well - things turned out differently. So a wonderful good morning for Saturday coffee, not throwing in the towel but letting things (knitting) come to us. For my part, I have already discarded the first ideas and welcomed new ones. Want to know which ones? Then make yourselves comfortable and enjoy reading!
Completely forgotten, newly in love
Anyone who has read the last, somewhat different Saturday Coffee knows that I actually wanted to knit a sweater for my husband as my next big project. What can I say? His birthday is only a few months away - so why go crazy now?
Instead, and I'm just going to call it fate, I came across a video of Abby Genser from Sandnes. Holy moly - why didn't I have him on my radar yet?

The good news first: the German pattern booklet is on its way back to our warehouse and will probably arrive in the course of next week. So the knitting fun is within reach! Apart perhaps from the "difficulty" of deciding on two colors ...
In any case, it is knitted from the top down. In the above video, pink and natural were combined, but I can also imagine a blue and white version for spring. Or how about spring green or lemon? I'm absolutely still embracing winter (it's snowing right now!), but I'm happy for the needles to be colorful. How does it look? Do you like Abby as much as I do? Then you are welcome to choose your favorite from Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair from Sandnes!
Half brioche always works
If you prefer structure to stripes: How about the JURI sweater from Paula_m? As we all know, a simple sweater in half brioche always works and is as simple as it is interesting.
The Coburg-based designer's latest design is knitted from the top down with a high collar and raglan increases. The wrong side is deliberately on the outside, although experienced knitters can of course also wear the "actual" half brioche side on the outside. Here you just have to rethink when weaving in the ends and especially when folding the collar. But it is possible!
For the yarn, you can choose between Double Sunday from Sandnes and Sayama from Pascuali. The latter is even a tad cheaper and therefore perhaps a great way to get this beautiful yarn made from 50% virgin wool and 50% llama wool on your needles. The color palette is rather small, but perhaps that's why it's so appealing! If you are looking for bright colors, go for Double Sunday.

I may be snug and warm as I write this, but I also just love wearing the coziest sweaters and cardigans at the moment. When it's snowing outside or - as is far too often the case - raining down cold and wet from the sky, my knitted treasures make me feel cozy.
The PEPPA jumper from Lotilda would be the perfect addition to the range. Here you will once again find a high collar and four raglan slants. You can choose the yarn: The version made from Snefnug and Midnatssol by CaMaRose is mohair and poly-free. If you want to recreate the colors of the original, choose Kos and Tynn Silk Mohair from Sandnes.
I discovered a really, really cool (men's) scarf from the Canadian Max the Knitter. Together with Vincent Deslandes, Maxim Cyr runs a wool store in Montreal and also creates his own knitwear designs. The Rustic Cabin Scarf is one of the latest designs and I think it's simply chic!
We have created the matching knitting set so that you can also achieve a mottled effect. The two main colors (colors one and three) are worked in single yarn from Double Sunday by Sandnes. In order to achieve the marled effect of color two, you knit two strands of Sandnes Sunday in the two colors you have chosen for Double Sunday. This also means that you won't have too many balls of yarn on your knitted piece.
Incidentally, the technique used here is the intarsia technique. The model looks as if it has been woven, but you knit it in stockinette stitch. And I think the scarf doesn't just look good on men!

Our ideas for your vouchers
What was under your Christmas tree? Maybe a nice knitting set or some practical accessories? We happen to know that some of you also received Maschenfein gift cards 😉 So I've brought along a few ideas of what you can treat yourselves with. However, it was very, very difficult for me to choose. Nevertheless - take a look:
Needle tips and cables for your needle system, for example, are always useful and practical. I have selected the Forté points from Chiaogoo and the new matching cable. The needle tips are part of a limited edition and are made of carbon with a stainless steel tip. This enables particularly precise work.
The cable shown above combines the two advantages of the two previous Chiaogoo needle cables. It has a swivel joint that is particularly narrow and therefore ensures a barely noticeable transition, as well as the steel core of the red Chiaogoo cable. This all sounds incredibly nerdy (and it is) - but many people in the team knit with Chiaogoo and they really like it!
Special knitting sets or other accessories
Of course - or perhaps first and foremost - you can also buy a special knitting set with a gift card. For example, our Leo Cardigan or another beautiful set using fine cashmere yarns is very popular with the Maschenfein team. Also new from ChrisBerlin is the Charis Cardigan, which is knitted from the merino cashmere yarn of the same name from Pascuali. And what's wrong with little bags with useful utensils such as stitch holders, stitch markers and sewing needles? Exactly. And the (Saturday) coffee tastes particularly good from the Maschenfein mug!
New podcast episode
Just in time for the new year, a fresh podcast episode also went online this week. This time I talked to Marisa again, who I caught in the old Maschenfein office.
In the episode, she gives a little personal update - as many of you know, she's had a lot going on in her private life. But we also talk about the office and the upcoming move, look back on the past year and Marisa tells us what she's looking forward to in 2025. So check it out! By the way, you can find the podcast not only on Spotify, but wherever you listen to podcasts 🙂

Maschenfein knitting round
I always imagine that while you're listening to "Nur noch eine Reihe", you're getting cozy with your current knitting project. And then, little by little, all the beautiful knitted pieces are finished. Just like this week:
![](https://www.maschenfein.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/250111-Samstagskaffee-Strickrunde-1024x503.jpg)
Jule shows you her Ava scarf, for example. Sandra created the design a few years ago, but it's as beautiful as ever!
And with damngood.knits I have discovered a brand new account. Jana takes you on her knitting journey there and shows you her finished Kelly Genser from Sandnes, among other things. I actually wore mine again this week!
Now I wish you a wonderful weekend. Hopefully with lots of knitting time! Because what was the question in a recent post by Stiebner-Verlag? "If you have the choice between cooking and cleaning ... how many rows will you knit?" On that note: Have a great time and see you next week!

I look forward to the Saturday coffee every Saturday. I wish the team all the best for the
new year. Unfortunately, I started with shoulder-arm syndrome and now I'm not allowed to knit for the time being.
