{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}
It's often the little things that bring pure happiness. You can have the most elaborate cake, but grandma's pot cake tastes just that little bit better. Or there may be so many big presents under the Christmas tree (more on this later), but the child's self-painted picture warms the heart the most. Or a conference is packed with a lot of knowledge and impressions, but a chance encounter with a knitwear customer puts a big smile on your face.
I wish you a wonderful good morning for your Saturday coffee! I keep realizing this year what a great group of knitters we are. Whether at h+h in Cologne or K5 (a trade fair for online retail) in Berlin - knitting brings us together and it's the conversations with you that always give me and the whole team the greatest pleasure. A special greeting also goes to all Munich moviegoers who are meeting today for the Knit & Cinema in the Bavarian capital. Have fun!
Our summer knit-along is starting!
Because we want to further strengthen this sense of community and also connect you with each other, we have planned a new knit-along. I already told you about it last week: Today, the first federal states are starting their well-deserved vacations and this also marks the start of our knit-along summer calendar. The theme is the mini shawls from our bestseller Mini Tücher - Maxi Chic.
Together with you we will knit our way through the summer; the Knit-Along will end with the last day of the Bavarian vacations on September 15th. So grab your copy of Mini Tücher - Maxi Chic and choose one - or more! - of the 18 mini shawls. If you don't have a book yet: You can get a copy here. But you can also find it wherever there are books.

And then: let's knit! Whether one or several - the main thing is that you have fun and enjoy the summer. If you like, post your work on Instagram and tag our accounts @maschenfein and @maschenfein_strickrunde in the picture. We have set up the second account in particular so that we can repost your work if necessary. This way you can see yourself and the projects of the other participants even better and you can also ask questions about colors, knitting levels and more.
Everyone who posts a photo will be entered into a draw to win three knitting kits for the mini shawls at the end of the Knit-Along. Sandra, Louisa, Jule and I are also taking part in the Knit-Along. Even if we don't throw a ticket into the pot (the more you post, the better *wink wink*), we're really looking forward to showing you our project progress and exchanging ideas. Our mini scarves to be? Minava (Sandra), Lumina (Louisa), Milotti (Jule) and Mollimi (Sophia). And who knows who else from the team will join in! In any case, you can find all the shawl knitting sets on this overview page.
She's done it again
In addition to activities like the maschenfein summer knit-along, there are of course constants in my - and your! - life. PetiteKnit, for example, who constantly manages to torpedo plans that have just been made ("I'll knit the Ivy Top!") ("Or the Ivy Tee?!"). That's terrible!
The recently released T-shirt design complements the Danish designer's Ivy design series. With its simplicity, it really picks me up - you too? We have three knitting kits for the design; you can choose between two-ply Compatible Cashmere from Knitting for Olive, single-ply Pure Silk, also from Knitting for Olive, or single-ply Arctic Pearl from Pascuali (OMG). Knit from the top down with a saddle shoulder.

Of course, I know that the often rather simple designs from PetiteKnit don't always strike a chord with everyone in our knitting group - and they don't have to! Luckily, there are many, many designers out there who show us a variety of possible projects.
For example, there is the Ellaria Shirt by Kerstin Ritter. I met Kerstin briefly at h+h in Cologne - even though we didn't get to talk, I think such encounters are so important because then I have a voice to go with my face. So great!
This playful T-shirt combines several elements: from the bateau neckline to the intricate cable pattern and the ribbed sleeves. Despite the differences, everything comes together harmoniously in the end. You knit from the top down with Saffira and Mohair Bliss from Pascuali.
With sleeves, without sleeves - the main thing is color
When you knit a design, it is of course difficult to change the pattern. But you can always choose a different color from the original! Although I personally don't think that's necessary for the next three designs ...
I was really shockingly in love with the Big MILLA Vest by Tanja Koenigs aka Lotilda. I have a thing for vests of all kinds and Tanja's shade of purple also does something to me. You knit in five strands (!) with Mohair Luxe from Lang Yarns from the top down.
If you're still looking for a top - and let's be honest: summer is just getting started - you should take a look at the Alva Top from wemadewardrobe. Knitted seamlessly top down, this top with a loose fit is a knitted piece for every day. You are working with Cotton Merino from Knitting for Olive, the original color is Japanese Anemone.
With the Uukii Cardigan by Rike, who is behind the designer label Rosa P., you get a simple yet cool cardigan. I particularly like the long sleeves and especially the choice of yarn. In the form of Bio Balance and Tussah Tweed (both from BC Garn), a blend of wool, cotton and silk is used on the needles. Perfect for the summer! You knit from the top down.
Another tip
A comment asked for a summery alternative to the Cabana Tee by Cheryl Mokhtari. We have created the knitting set to match the original yarn choice with Cotton Merino and Compatible Cashmere from Knitting for Olive. The combination is great, no doubt about it, but the pure cashmere yarn is of course less suitable for hot days.
So if you want to knit the shirt in a more summery version: We can very well imagine Studio Linen by Erika Knight for the gauge of 22 stitches on 10 cm (both stockinette and in the pattern). However, please also make a sample yourself to determine the correct needle size. If you need help with the amount of yarn, please send us an e-mail to "support@maschenfein.de".

Before we dive right into our knitting session, here's a hint that comes from my job as a knit-fine Christmas representative: It's not even six months away, folks! Jaha - I could hardly believe it myself, but June 24th has already passed and the days are already getting shorter again and of course I don't want to spoil the summer, but I wanted to leave the information that it's not long until Christmas.
Because it's like this - and please don't let me be alone: Every year, by the 4th of Advent at the latest, I sit there and realize that I probably won't make the Christmas socks now after all, it was too late for the Advent calendar bags anyway and the Christmas sweater for hubby might be a bit too ambitious now after all. The best thing to do, as the next thought always starts, is to take a Christmas project with me on my summer vacation. Then I'll definitely be finished in time! So, now you know! I'll see you again in October with concrete ideas, alright? 😉
Maschenfein knitting round
So let's continue with summer for now and of course I have two or three projects in mind for the vacations in a few weeks and whether they are Christmasy? Please! So let's see what's on your needles:

Mirja is wearing the almost finished Soho Top by Caidree, which is so beautiful because it makes do with very little. Kraus on the right is for beginners? Maybe - but it's beautiful for all knitting levels! And I also like the idea of knitting it in Chaski from Amano!
You can see the yarn for the Linnea Dress from Sandnes at Ursula. Here we are working in two-ply with Tynn Line and Mandarin Petit from Sandnes and the shades of blue give off so many vacation vibes ... this will be a great project!
So: Yes, I'm not in the mood for Christmas right now either. I still have one more thing to do, but you won't find out for a few months ... Now I wish you a summer weekend full of knitting. Have a great one!

Hello, yes, I know this question too. Isn't it too warm to knit? Or: wool in summer? << to a knitted sweater.
"Nah, it's knitted, but it's not made of wool!" Very few people know that you can knit fine cotton or silk or thin linen.
Yes, and of course, when it's really hot, I prefer to wear wovens ... they're cooler.
And yes, there are temperatures at which the yarn no longer slips, then off into the water.
With this in mind: get through the hot days ahead ... with summer knitting, of course.
Best regards from Essen, Katrin
... I'd rather be at the Baltic Sea right now,
but I'll have to wait another two weeks
You have sooo beautiful designs, but not one for older ladies.
Ladies over 70 also like to knit.

Dear Roswitha! How great that you are following Maschenfein and our Saturday coffee! Maybe you can tell me what you're in the mood for? Then I can go looking again. Best wishes and happy knitting! Sophia
