{Saturday Coffee & Net Talk}
I was wondering whether I already have the winter blues - in other words, whether I'm through with cold temperatures, clammy fingers and red cheeks. I don't think I'm quite there yet.
Good morning to a somewhat frozen Saturday coffee! One thing is clear: there's still a bit of winter left. So the correspondingly longer sleeves can also linger a little longer! That's why I've brought you some beautiful new knitwear designs, a bit of net talk and new items from our store.
Modified cut
At the moment, I still like to open my drawers in the morning and think about which sweater or cardigan to wear for the day. My Olga sweater from PetiteKnit is currently very popular. The fresh colors make me feel like spring, but Peer Gynt from Sandnes still keeps me warm.
Como from Lamana has been at the top of my list of woolly yarns for ages. Super light, super soft, super great. Really. The 100% virgin wool can be knitted well with a supplementary yarn - for example Soft Silk Mohair (mohair/silk) from Knitting for Olive. This combination is currently back in our knitting kits - namely in the form of the Spot Regular sweater by Anne Ventzel.

You already know the pattern from the Spot Sweater. This version here differs in its cut: the Spot Regular has a more straight design and smaller armholes - so it is less oversized.
You knit from the top down, the cross pattern goes over the entire sweater. You can choose the yarn: Either knit only with Como or combine Como and Soft Silk Mohair.
Freshly discovered
Louisa has discovered another beautiful sweater for our knitting sets: the Emma sweater by Italian Emma Fassio is loose-fitting but not too oversized. Twisted details provide the necessary eye-catcher. I particularly like the balloon sleeves. Wide sleeves, tight cuffs - I like that!
In our knitting set you will find the yarn combination Alpaca Fino and Manada from Pascuali. Two beauties really come together here - you'll love the result! Knit from the top down. The pattern is in English (and Italian ;-)), but free of charge!

Lots of beautiful cardigans
If you're already leaning towards an in-beetween look, you might want to think about a cardigan. Not that I wouldn't combine sweaters and jackets in layering (the more knitwear, the better), but we can start slowly.
The Mia Cardigan from Cheryl Mokhtari was released this week. You may already be familiar with Mia Sweater and Mia Sweater Chunky - the new model picks up on the simple look and is a beautiful addition to any wardrobe. You knit from the top down with Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair from Sandnes.
Simple simply always works
For the little ones there is - in addition to the new, cute children's collection from Sandnes - Svea's LinjeCardigan Kids. Behind it is Düsseldorf-based Carolin Balmes, of which we have already created a few designs as knitting sets. The cute cardigan is worked from the top down in Hamelton Tweed 1 from BC Garn. A little tip at this point: there is also a matching headband. If you buy both patterns on Ravelry, the price of the headband will be automatically deducted in your shopping cart.
New from Caidree is the Harlow Cardigan. The pattern is still only available in English, but so far all of the American designer's other designs have also been published in German - so I think a little patience is all that's needed here. In any case, it is knitted from the top down. As with the original model, you will find the yarn combination Semilla Pura from BC Garn and Silky Kid from Kremke Soul Wool in our set.
Now as a knitting set

Another yarn from BC Garn - in this case Bio Balance - can be found in the Moon Mint knitting kit from Andrea Mowry. I presented the design to you last week and you loved it as much as I did!
Jule has therefore created a set and you can choose matching colors. Bio Balance doesn't have the mint shade that gives it its name, but it does have beautiful shades of blue that go in a similar direction(azure!).
Gloves for cold fingers
What - apart from new designs - am I currently enjoying? Knitting small projects. In keeping with the motto "socks always work", I really like gloves at the moment. Practically mittens, because they are even quicker to knit than gloves.
You'll find a fine selection in our knitting sets. I have brought you the Key Mittens from PetiteKnit (from Peer Gynt by Sandnes), the Robinia Mittens from Anne Ventzel (also from Peer Gynt) and the Erna Mittens from Rust Knitwear (from Lovely Merino Treat by Rosy Green Wool). All three designs are quick to knit and will get you through the rest of the winter (let's face it: spring doesn't start until March!).
Spring-like and cheerful

The colors from KAOS Yarn make you long for spring (at any time of year). The Danish manufacturer has a rather unusual color palette with lots of bright, but also pastel shades. A few color extensions have already been announced - for example in Organic Brushed Alpaca.
So feel free to browse through the colors, you can already order all of them. Just note that there is a longer shipping time for the new colors because they are still on their way to us.
There are also a few new yarns in the Maschenfein shop. We have added the qualities Apu Imperial Alpaca (100 % alpaca) and Warmi (70 % alpaca, 30 % virgin wool) from Amano, a manufacturer from Peru. Why? They were the subject of the latest episode of our podcast "Nur noch eine Reihe" ("Just one more row" - german podcast). I had Janin from Selected Yarns as a guest - the wholesaler whose portfolio includes Amano and Manos del Uruguay, as well as BC Garn and Erika Knight.
In the episode, Janin told me a lot about the individual qualities, but we also talk about creativity in general and how the preparations for the industry trade fair h+h in March are going. Have a listen - you can find the podcast in the podcast player of your choice!
Maschenfein knitting round
I've brought you a little mix for our knitting session today. It stays warm, as I said - but a few fresh colors are allowed!

Our Maschenfein-Jule is working on her own hat design. She knits sideways so that she gets vertical stripes and uses - to match this little coffee! - Organic Soft Merino and Organic Brushed Alpaca from KAOS Yarn. The pattern is coming soon!
Clara has a classic and very chic look. She has finished the November Neck from PetiteKnit. Knitted from Heavy Merino by Knitting for Olive, it's another beautiful project that you can easily finish this winter.
And now? I'm wavering! I really want to finish one project at a time, but all these great knitting patterns ... why don't you tell me what you're knitting at the moment and what you're loving? In any case, I hope you have a lovely weekend with lots of knitting time!

Dear Sophia,
I always enjoy reading your posts, it's fun to browse through them. I have something for you for a change: the French newspaper Le Monde has published an article about the Sophie scarf, which is conquering the world and is particularly popular with twenty-year-olds. Here is the link:
https://www.lemonde.fr/m-le-mag/article/2025/01/25/la-sophie-scarf-a-la-conquete-des-cous-de-la-planete_6515505_4500055.html
Knitting is not usually a topic in the newspapers....
Best regards and keep up the good work
Cornelia
Dear Cornelia, thank you very much for the tip! It's crazy what circles the Sophie Scarf has drawn. But it's also too beautiful! Best regards, Sophia
I am currently knitting the last minute cuffs from PaulaM in green for our older son's girlfriend. The first cuff is already finished and the left one will be quicker as I am now familiar with the techniques (Italian cast-on and decreases). It's actually an in-between project, as I'm currently finishing my sweater. Unfortunately, I got carried away with a raglan in a double pattern, which has to be sewn together. As I feared, the raglan line is a little too short, which I noticed in the meantime. I therefore knitted the raglan decreases on the sleeves longer, but this doesn't work if you don't make this extension on the body too - an own goal! So the raglan seams are finished and I will never sew a raglan together again! Since I still have some wool left over, I remembered that Ganseys also have gussets under the arms. For better motivation, I will first knit the neckline and then, according to my own creativity, such gussets to finally help the fit of my sweater, which I sewed on in October, to a good end 🙂.
Dear Jana, that sounds like an endurance project! I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything turns out just as you imagined. Best wishes and happy knitting! Sophia
Good morning ☕, I'm really excited about the last podcast episode! Thank you so much, you really got me with these special yarns!
I'm currently knitting the Olive Cardigan V-neck and the Mille for men. I'm sticking to my New Year's resolutions and knitting the treasures from the stash. I'm particularly looking forward to the Bonnie dress from Sandnes, which will be my next project (I want it to be knee-length, I've had the swatch and yarn since November...).
And until then I'll be rummaging through the yarns from your podcast: by the time I've decided what I want, by the time it arrives, by the time I've cuddled enough with it, the Bonnie dress might be finished 😉😁
Dear Tatsiana, oh, it all sounds great what projects you have and are planning. Keep on having fun knitting and with Maschenfein! Sophia
Hi Sophia....
I'm actually knitting the Olga Sweater at the moment, but in the colors natural/beige. I've almost finished the first sleeve.
I think it has the potential to become my favorite sweater too.
Best wishes and a weekend full of knitting
Veronica
Dear Veronika, oh dear - I'm sure it'll go quickly now. Have fun wearing it and best wishes! Sophia
At the moment I am still knitting the Jenni Cardigan from PetiteKnit. It's for the layering. In March I can also wear a short-sleeved shirt underneath it.
The Bonni Sweater from Sandnes totally appealed to me in terms of color. I HAD to order the yarn for it. And the yarn for the Bruno slipover went into my shopping cart at the same time. It's great for combining with an layering or wearing on its own.
Of course, I'm already busy writing down projects for the fall in my knitting calendar for this year. The key sweater is definitely on the list.
Dear Antje, I'm reassured that I'm not alone in knitting on multiple tracks 😉 I wish you lots of fun with your projects and with Maschenfein! Sophia
