Hello and welcome to the first Saturday Coffee in October! When you read it, these lines will already be a few days old, because our favorite little coffee is by far not created in one day.

Although I am quite... let's call it "flexible" when it comes to writing texts (I hope none of my former lecturers are reading this), good things do take time.

Although it always seems like Saturday Coffee is the product of Judith or me alone, there is quite a bit of teamwork behind it. All the beautiful yarns we recommend for the designs are due to Jule and Sandra, the mistresses of the swatches. Let's just stick with the idea that they each have tons of swatches in their drawers. The fact that they just look into a dull database doesn't fit my autumn cuddle mood right now.

When the caff is as good as finished, Louisa does some fine-tuning. Finally, there is a proofreading pass with possible revisions. Zack, the Saturday coffee is ready.

Why am I going so far and what does all this have to do with the headline? Quite clearly: I always fall into a bliss when I see the ways in which this great hobby can inspire. In the team, when one of us opens a new design and there is no stopping in the team chat. In the comments section, when complete strangers write to me about how much they feel like having a cup of coffee. And of course in real life, when people wink at me on the street in the middle of Hamburg because we are both wearing the Champagne Cardigan (spit it out, which one of you was that?).

Well then! With much enthusiasm I have again brought a few beautiful inspirations. So that they make your hearts beat faster like mine!

Carefree through everyday life

...you'll probably never manage, especially not in these difficult times. But we can still create a little carefree comfort zone for ourselves. In fact, I think we should!

Sorgenfri jacket My size. Photo: © Guri Pedersen.

A matching model has been designed by Guri Pedersen with her Sorgenfri Jacket My Size . The jacket is adorned with a pretty and catchy textured pattern.

Here you work from the top down and knit the round yoke first. Evenly distributed increases then form the sleeves, which are first set aside. When the body is finished, pick up the sleeve stitches and finish them in the structure pattern as well.

By the way, the facings and finishes are knitted directly. Finally, you only need to sew threads and attach buttons.

The designer uses Premia and Como from Lamana, so you can expect cozy knitting at its best. Just pick out your favorite colors in the wool pack that Jule put on right away. (Psst, be sure to check out the matching baby version of the jacket too!)

Who of you actually remembers the saying from Mom back then: "That you don't catch a cold in your kidneys!"? Many greetings go out to all the people who spent their youth in the early 2000s. Hipsters olé, olé, just saying.

But back to Mom. I would never have believed it back then, but today I agree with her: Yes, when it's cold at the kidneys, it gets really uncomfortable. So a long cardigan is a must.

Very coincidentally I came across the Ole Kofte for Ladies by Inga Mallwitz and immediately had to think of mummy's cold kidneys.

The jacket has a rather wide neckline and reaches about mid-thigh. But you can easily change the length to your taste, because here too you knit top down. A delicate ajour pattern decorates the front of the cardigan.

Inga recommends two yarns from BC for her design. With Organic Balance you get a more sporty version due to the cotton content. If you like it woollier, just take Semilla.

Warm on the neck it must be!

B01. Photo: © Pia Elverich (Pippaknit).

In my experience, everyone has a weak point in the cold. For me, it's the feet. If they're not warm, the rest of the body can't get warm either. For others, it may be the kidneys (see above).

Who is sensitive at the neck, needs either a lot of scarves and shawls and / or a turtleneck around the neck. Fortunately, I have found something for you!

Pia Elverich aka Pippaknit designs designs with clean lines without a lot of frills (this continues in the model naming). Her sweater B01 is therefore a classic turtleneck design, which becomes a favorite piece through small details.

For one, there's the broken rib pattern (one of my favorites!) that continues throughout the sweater. Also, the cuff is divided in two at the sides. So you knit the body in rounds first and then divide the work at the end for the two cuffs.

With needles of weight 5, 5 and the voluminous yarn Snefnug (CaMaRose) or Kos (Sandnes) you will get fast results. For the Snefnug-variation Jule has put together a wool package for you, please click here:

Knit chic - also on the leg!

Already for some time we have the beautiful NORD sweater by Hanne Rimmen as a wool package in the store. But did you know that Hanne actually designed a whole outfit?

Matching the sweater there is also the NORD Knit Pants. I mean, there's nothing cozier than working on the next model completely knitted in on the sofa, is there?

The pants are worked from the top down. A double cuff and I-cord provide comfort at the waist. The legs are knitted straight down. As in the wool package for the NORD sweater for the pants you can also use Puno Winikunka and Alpaca Lace (both from Pascuali). For me, however, the design also cries out for Semilla (BC Garn).

Warm from Finland

Sarah Sweater. Photo: © Leeni Hoi.

Finnish designer Leeni Hoi is known for her urban style: casualness and refined details characterize her designs.

Here also ranks the Sarah Sweater. The pretty turtleneck sweater draws attention especially in the lower part. Two pockets, each with horizontal stripes, draw attention to themselves, while the rest of the sweater is kept rather simple in stockinette stitch.

You knit top down and can choose between two neckline variations. Finally, only a little sewing work awaits you by connecting the pocket lining with the sweater.

In the original Leeni uses among other things a mohair quality. Of course we go along with this and would like to introduce you to Krea Deluxe Organic Wool in combination with Deluxe Silk Mohair recommend.

Fine and cozy at the same time

Times when offices may only be heated to 19 °C require special measures. In my job, it is basically no problem to throw on a wool sweater from home that you like to wear. But many of you need or want to look 'dressed'. What could be more obvious than knitting yourself a blouse suitable for the office?

The Jasmine Blouse by Celina Dyhring is elegant and warming at the same time. Once again, you work from the top down. At waist level, a knit-in tunnel and later inserted I-cord serve for a slight gathering. Finally, an I-cord as a finish and light balloon sleeves - this model does not need more to accompany you through the workday.

With Verona and Premia from Lamana you will achieve a particularly fine, soft-flowing result.

New wool packs have moved in!

You've already noticed: New designs and yarns are popping up everywhere. The knitting list is getting longer and longer and actually you don't know since a year when you want to knit all the pretty things.

I'm happy to help you find a way out of this dilemma! The trick is to simply stop thinking about how much time you would need for all the designs. Just keep filling the list and adjust the order if necessary. Because: Once I have opened this Pandora's box, the horse has left the barn anyway (I know how to say things!). By the way, I always feel the same way about the opened bag of chips, but that's another topic...

So here follows a best-of of the latest wool packages in the Maschenfein store!

Anne-Sophie Velling is known for her detail-oriented designs. With Augustins No 26 she has designed a pretty beret that adds "a touch of class" to any outfit, as they say.

You knit this pretty headdress from the bottom up. Finally, you work an I-cord, which tied as a bow gives the beret that certain something.

In our wool package we have you Double Sunday and Tynn Silk Mohair (both Sandnes). Have fun with the agony of color choice!

Oversized seasons cardigan

From Ozetta Knitwear we already have the Moonset Tee as a wool package in the store. Now the designer shows: she is also into winter knitting.

The Oversized Seasons Cardigan is wonderfully voluminous due to the brioche and keeps you toasty warm. Here, too, you work top down. The finishing is reduced to a minimum, because you knit the button band directly.

By the way, you don't have to worry that the jacket will lie like lead on your shoulders thanks to the brioche knit. Jule and Sandra have thought along and have chosen you from CaMaRose Snefnug (a real lightweight) for the wool package.

A real highlight for me is the Twist Loop Sweater from Other Loops. It's been on my Instagram feed for a few days now. But since we have the best readers, one of you was faster than me, so Jule and Sandra quickly created a wool package.

And this has it all! With Merino, Soft Silk Mohair (both Knitting for Olive) and Piura (Lamana) you can knit three different qualities. To make the color selection easier for you, Sandra has already preset suitable colors. Of course you can also create your own color creations!

By the way, you work with the Twist Loop Sweater top down - so no annoying sewing at the end.

Maschenfein Instagram knitting round

On Instagram we could admire in the last week again many of your started and finished works. With the many cozy knitting photos, the choice of two, which I want to show you, was really not easy.

Caramel Sweater. Photo: © instagram.com/allesnurmeins.
Kolding. Photo: © Instagram.com/zehnfingerwerk.

After a long absence from knitting, user allesnurmeins took the needles out of the wool basket again and casted on the Caramel Sweater from PetiteKnit - looks very promising!

Lena is addicted to the Kolding feverand shows us her two-tone version. She has chosen Saffira and is already looking forward to her new favorite piece.

Well wonderful, now I am in a fine mess. Because of all the research and writing, my knitting list has 'accidentally' become a few designs longer. Is it the same for you?

While I now quite randomly and incidentally sift matching yarns and colors, I wish you a nice week. Make it nice for yourselves!

Yours

Dear Uta,

Sometimes you have to click through the individual videos until you find the right one for you. I am zumundest so far immr found.
Kind regards

Manuela

Hello dear ones,
I recently came across your blog and immediately ordered the sorgenfri jacket and the matching wool package. Only I am now faced with the conundrum of how to use the supplied wool for the project? Is the jacket knitted with double thread (Premia and Como combined)? A quick tip on this would be great.
Kind regards Manuela

Saskia

Dear Manuela,
thank you very much for your kind words! Exactly, you knit both qualities at the same time. The result will convince you, the combination of the soft Como and the mohair yarn Premia is just fantastic!

Love and have fun knitting!

birgit

good morning,
so i don't know what you studied, but i'm sure your teachers would be proud of you! i always look forward to your saturday camp and think carefully about when i'm going to make myself comfortable and take time to read. thanks for the inspiration!

Saskia

Hello Birgit,
thank you, I am very honored! I studied German Linguistics (the BA and MA programs were called something else, but that's going too far here) and I'm also working in the field full-time. I'm really glad you enjoy my caffs so much.

Have a nice evening!
Saskia

Dear Saskia! Thanks for the great suggestions and the varied Saturday coffee! ... by the way - I know that with the chips bag 😅
Best regards and have fun with your autumnal knitting! Claudia

Saskia

Forest Fairy

What a beautiful Saturday coffee...I look forward to it every week. I'm especially taken with the Jasmine Blouse. The yarn also falls so wonderfully soft and flowy. In hindsight, I wish I had that for my Frieda stole. I knit it from Pascuali and the yarn is beautiful. But for my taste it could have fallen softer.
I'm flashed again, so many beautiful projects... but unfortunately I only have two hands and a salary😁

Saskia

Hello Kathrin,
thank you so much for your nice comment! The Jasmine Blouse is really chic, I'm curious if it goes on your needles. About the Stola Frieda, I can only give you the tip that in my experience the yarn gets a bit softer with every wear. Maybe you will like the feel better when you have used Frieda for some time.
(By the way: I share your desire for more hands and more salaries without reservation 😉 ).

Many greetings!

Oh please please a knitting kit for this in your store - I am absolutely overwhelmed with picking out the wool otherwise. The jacket is soo beautiful and has blocked the reading of the further Käffchens... I must very quickly get the Kukka Cardigan for my daughter ready, so that the Ole-Kofte can go on my needles.

Saskia

Thank you for the nice comment! I'll pass the request directly to Jule and Sandra 😉 Otherwise, you can also just write an email to the two (support@maschenfein.de). They will be very happy to help you with the yarn quantity!

Katrin

Good morning everyone,

today is again such a wonderful (nasty) cozy weather, where you can stay inside with a clear conscience and indulge your passion knitting on the sofa in front of the TV.

I am fully in the preparations for it. Yesterday I had the day off and could already do everything else - especially the paths. And I have all my wool that I ordered earlier this week already in the house. Thanks for the fast and reliable delivery - as always!
Yesterday, with this great weather, I was then able to sample colors and decide what to combine. And today I wash my summer woolens with and with, in parallel I knot the yarns that are in skeins.

And of course I have already looked through your again interesting Saturday coffee. The Sorgenfri jacket I find very nice because it is, although so simple, but also exciting by the structure. The twist loop sweater has already caught my eye this week on your website - wow, is that brilliant!

Since I already started rewinding this morning, I have already started meshing my new yarn LACY LINEN. Is that beautiful! To make the black tone of this yarn really turn out like a black, I combined it with the Merino yarn from Knitting for Olive and I think this will be another dream of a sweater. I actually wanted to knit in a pattern, but the yarn is so wonderful on its own that I could only ruin it with a pattern. So it becomes again a kind of Caramel Sweater - always great!

Beautiful I also find your Nord sweater with the Nord Knit Pants, but I have strong concerns that I can wear that. Because as soon as you do not have super thin legs, you rub sooner or later everything with the "fat cheeks" between the thighs kaputt. Too bad.

A wonderful knitting Saturday I wish all
busy and cozy bees, Katrin

Saskia

Dear Katrin,
thank you so much for your detailed comment! The mix of merino from KfO and Lacy Linen sounds really exciting! That's what I love about the stitch samples, which I had to train myself a few years ago: You can experiment so wonderfully with materials.
Yep, the NORD Knit Pants are rather special, but I think they're already quite sturdy. On sweaters, the sleeves always rub against the body (especially under the armpits) and yet you can wear them all for a long time. But I have to whisper to myself again and again that wool is a really robust material. If we think of the Ganseys (fishermen's sweaters), which are now fashionable again, they were all knits that people wore as work clothes - not in the office, but for hard work at sea. I mean, go ahead and try it 🙂

Many greetings!

Birgitta

The first thing on Saturday morning to my coffee is always me the whole day elating Saturday coffee from you. Of course I love the cheerful way of chatting, the fine work behind it I read, already professionally, very well ... I also enjoy the color selection as well as the working "click" and the final list at the very end, where I often quite still choose a design - I'm just also "such a too enthusiastic knitter", which can then almost comfortably purring on the new incredibly look forward. And yes, I come directly from the Scandinavian vacations back and it is totally great with what love the wool and knitting are celebrated. And in the unbelievably great "Dokk" in Aarhus a cordial exchange arose to the Ingrid Sweater hung over the shoulder. Well if that's nothing... I'm very happy just to dive in with you and will now provide the summer UFOS every day with 1 hour- are at topdown yes "only the rest" of the arms that take their toll with the thin needles. But the next summer comes for sure and the next Saturday coffee yes also... dear greetings your faithful Birgitta from Switzerland

Saskia

Hello dear Birgitta,
thank you very much for your kind words! Yes, in the Scandinavian countries knitting is celebrated once again very special. But I think we are also with us on a good path 🙂 Ufos I would also still have, but somehow it itches me especially after every Saturday coffee in the fingers to strike something new. I guess that's called "occupational disease".

Best regards from Northern Germany!
Saskia

Kerstin

Good morning 😃 and "thank you very much" for the extension of my wish list 🙃. Saturday at breakfast, the first thing to read the blog. And what can I say: as always great written. A nice weekend to all wool addicts in this world

Saskia

Dear Kerstin,

Have a great weekend to you too!
