The simultaneity of things is sometimes hard to bear - on a large and small scale. Together with Marisa, we came out of the summer fully motivated and are really looking forward to fall, the cooler temperatures and lots of lovely knitting moments.
And then there are also the personal stories that slow you down and give you pause. You may have noticed on Instagram that Marisa isn't as present as usual. Without wanting to go into too much detail, she is very much there for her family and especially her parents at the moment. Of course, it's not just you who are noticing this, but also us, which is why we're now doing what you do as a great team: getting stuck in, closing ranks and steering the Maschenfein boat forward.
Are you joining us? Then make yourselves comfortable: I have lots of lovely knitting ideas for you again in this little coffee, tell you all about our knitting accessories from Franziska Klee and take you through the Maschenfein knitting round. Because if knitting doesn't get you through hard times, what will?
Let your thoughts flow stitch by stitch

You know how it is: when life gets crazy, time on the needles is a precious commodity. But one that is also incredibly beneficial, comforting and distracting. And as we are fast approaching the end of this wild year, the Christmas season is fast approaching and with it perhaps a suitable knitting project or two.
For all of you - including me - who want to celebrate the holidays with the right wardrobe, I have something sweet for you: Knitting for Olive has published the pattern for the Snow Sweater, this year's Christmas model for children aged between one and ten.
It is knitted from the top down with a circular yoke. The winter landscape is a real eye-catcher and immediately makes me think of cozy winter days. Snow gently falling on fir trees - is there anything more beautiful? I don't think so!
Psst ... there's something for grown-ups too!
In the knitting set you will find Merino and Soft Silk Mohair from Knitting for Olive, the original color combination is preset for you. If you don't want to knit mohair, you can also use Compatible Cashmere from Knitting for Olive. Here you would only have to adjust the shade of green in Merino. Please email us at "support@maschenfein.de" if you need help with the colors and quantities.
Anyone thinking: Christmas sweaters only for children? What about me? I hear you! Very clearly! My dream is a knitted Christmas wardrobe for the whole family. I may have watched too many Hallmark christmas movies, but so be it! By the way, Knitting for Olive has a similar feel and of course also has an adult version up its sleeve. Too beautiful! Of course, we have also created the set for you (and the pattern will also be published in German). I would also like to take this opportunity to recommend our newsletter to you again. The next issue will be very christmassy - you won't want to miss it! You can easily subscribe here.

Something else for young and old

Photo: ©️ Kleinigkeitenliebe
When I'm out on my morning bike ride to daycare and kindergarden, I'm happy about the beautiful fall weather. It's cool, but not yet icy and the sun is shining on my face. Sharon Maninger, aka kleinigkeitenliebe, is someone who always manages to capture this mood.
Sharon just takes such incredibly atmospheric photos. Whether it's of her family, her house, her knitwear designs or her garden - I always want to invite myself in for a coffee and enjoy them too. So I couldn't pass up her latest designs - a poncho for big and small.
Each in one size
Both designs are knitted in rows in a beautiful lace pattern. At a certain height, you form the neckline by binding off and picking up new stitches. At the end, sew an edge using kitchener stitch and finish by knitting a neckband. At this point, I would like to recommend our new knit-ledge, where you will find so many helpful tips and tricks.
The most important difference in the ponchos is the yarn: the children's model is knitted with Poppy from Sandnes, but you could also use Kos (also from Sandnes) or Snefnug from CaMaRose. The design is intended for people up to approx. 130 cm tall.
Following Sharon's recommendation, we made the women's version with Léttlopi from Ístex, a pure Icelandic virgin wool yarn. The finished model therefore has a more robust look and feel. The one size fits all up to a chest circumference of 160 cm.

It stays warm and gets even cozier

For all those who find this type of yarn too rustic, I have a nice alternative: Anne Ventzel has just published a new cardigan model. The Spot Cardigan complements the sweater of the same name and is knitted in the round from the top down. Yes, you read that right! You are knitting a sweater first, which is then cut open at the end. This may not be for the faint-hearted, but on the other hand it's not rocket science either. All you have to do is banish all "disruptive factors" such as children, partners and pets from the living room and get to work in peace. You can also find tips on steeking in our knit-ledge section.
In the knitting set for the Spot Cardigan you will find Como from Lamana, which is one of my absolute yarn favorites. It is also made from pure new wool, but becomes cozy soft after washing, which is why you can also use it for baby clothes. If you want to add a touch of luxury, use Como Cashmere yarn instead of Como. This is also from Lamana, has the same meterage, but has a cashmere content of 30 percent. I like it very much!
Play with colors
Lotilda also has a new cardigan model. Oversized and casual - just as we know it from the Bonn-based designer. It looks really cozy and will certainly get you through the cold season.
The CHILA V cardigan is knitted from the top down, starting with the back panel. Everything below the armholes is placed on one needle and the sleeves are worked in the round at the end. Hem and cuffs are knitted with an extra long 1 x 1 cuff.
With the knitting kits you have the choice: you can knit the model in two strands without contrasting cuffs in Børstet Alpakka from Sandnes or you can opt for the variation and knit the body and arms in two strands of Børstet Alpakka as well, but work the cuffs in double Como Grande from Lamana. I would opt for the second version because I think the different feel of the yarns is very cool!

I'm sure it's very quick

When I talk to a designer for a portrait, I always ask where she gets her inspiration from. I always find that really exciting, because we are often inspired completely unconsciously and get an idea from things that don't seem incredibly creative at first glance.
For me, this is actually quite often the playground (it's simply a popular place in my phase of life). While I'm pushing on swings or building sand pies, I also like to let my gaze wander. One time, my gaze fell on a large shopper hanging from a stroller. It was made from a plushy yarn and I was immediately smitten.
Since it's not a good idea to steal other people's bags (I'm sure you'll agree), I secretly photographed it and marked it as "for later". That time has now come, as I discovered the Penny Tote Bag at Moreca Knit.
The shoulder bag measures approx. 77 cm in circumference and 68 cm in length. Start at the bottom, from which stitches are then picked up for the body of the bag. For the straps, the stitches are separated and sewn together again at the top. Finally, sew in a matching lining.
In the knitting set you'll find Teddy Dear from Gepard (you can buy it here - I've already ordered my ration for the Audrey Jacket;-)) and Sisu from Sandnes. The combination makes it extra fluffy and yet durable. Or as I would put it more freely: knit them up!

Think about your Christmas presents now!
And then you may have already discovered that you can currently buy our beautiful knitted accessories again, which we developed together with the Leipzig fair fashion label Franziska Klee. The current sales slot runs until tomorrow evening - and it's the last one for this year! So if you're still looking for a gift or would like to give yourself a present, now is the time to strike.
All products will only be handmade for you in Leipzig after the order round - so as always, expect a slightly longer delivery time. But everything will be ready in time for Christmas! As far as the leather quality is concerned, everything is as you would expect from Franzi: high quality, careful workmanship and a lot of love for the craft. There is no plastic coating on the certified natural leather. Instead, each skin is allowed to tell its own story and each piece is a little different.
We have also refreshed the product views for you. The green leather is no longer available, but there are two new colors: lilac and royal blue. We also have new photos to make it easier for you to choose the right color. If you like, you can also personalize your product with an embossing. Only with Maki is this not possible; the cute stitch marker case is simply too small. 😉 From my own experience, I can say that a bag from Franziska Klee is something very special and will stay with you for a long, long time.
News from Laine
There was also a lot of mail from Finland in the warehouse - in this case in the form of reading material from Laine Verlag. Especially now, when it gets dark earlier or the temperatures are not good enough for full daytime outdoor activities, the sofa is not only tempting with knitting projects, but also with beautiful magazines and books.
For example, there is the book "Tiny Friends: A Guide to Mosaic Embroidery" by Tomomi Mimura, which provides you with everything you need to know about mosaic embroidery. The little animals depicted in the book are perhaps a little special, but definitely a great inspiration for your own creations.
As usual, the current issue of Laine magazine provides you with a coherent knitwear collection - in this case with cozy, autumnal fashion. The designs are knitted from high-quality yarns in harmonious color combinations and reflect the theme of the issue - recycling. As always, the eleven designs are accompanied by interviews, columns, articles and recipes.
I had to order the special edition "Nordic Knits" straight away. Here, the authors take us on a journey back to the origins of the publishing house: the magazine combines the timeless beauty of Nordic aesthetics, breathtaking landscapes and the traditional art of knitting. The issue is a tribute to the Nordic lifestyle and the unique yarns that characterize it. It's got my name written all over it!
Here it comes

Do you know what else I like to do apart from knitting? Making you curious! As we all know, anticipation is the greatest joy and there's just something about that tingling feeling when you already have an idea but don't know anything concrete yet. And as the sale of the knitting kit for this year's Christmas shawl starts at the beginning of November (the full pattern will be available at the start of the Knit-Along in mid-November), I want to reveal the yarn combination to you today.
The shawl is knitted from two different yarns - Como from Lamana and Brushlight from Cardiff. Pure merino meets cashmere and silk. The combination couldn't be more beautiful! But what it looks like, how it is constructed, whether it is knitted with multiple threads or not - we will reveal that at a later date ...
Maschenfein knitting round
So you'll have to be patient a little longer. But not for long, I promise! And until then, let's just see what's going on in our knitting group ...

Anja is currently knitting the Catelyn Cardigan by Kerstin Ritter from Como and Modena by Lamana. The long cardigan is a great eye-catcher for fall!
Our design co-worker Lisa has finished the zipper sweater from PetiteKnit. Wow! Because our northern light has her hands full with new designs for Maschenfein at the moment - you can really look forward to it!

The Mother's Day shawl Lotti from Pinta by Pascuali was on Susannchen 's needles. The skein you can see in the picture is now also knitted and the shawl is finished. We really hope it will become a favorite!
You can discover a Maschenfein test knit from Verena. She is knitting our Brevue Cardigan from Como and Premia by Lamana. The pattern are expected to be published here at the end of November/beginning of December. So this could be a project for the holidays ... or what do you think?
I will hopefully be able to devote myself to my knitting needles over the course of the weekend. Supplies have already arrived, as well as some reading material. Simply knitting comfortably, not thinking about much else but the current project - that's a nice prospect. In any case, I wish you lots of relaxing knitting moments and a lovely weekend!

Now I have a new question; if I have paid for the pattern and received them, 1 of 2, how does it work with the wool? You don't know which size and which color. Please help me. Or am I too stupid?
Thank you
Dear Doris, in addition to the pattern, if you want to buy the wool from us, you also need to choose a suitable knitting set, for example. You can find them all here: https://www.maschenfein.com/produkt-kategorie/strickkits/ You can use the filter options to search specifically for suitable designs. Or you can enter the name of the knitting design in the search - we already have a matching set for many, many designs. You can then select your size and color in the set itself. It's best to send us an email to "support@maschenfein.de" with your desired designs and we'll help you further 🙂 Best regards and glad you found us! Sophia
Dear Sophia,
sorry I'm relatively new here and hadn't read the introduction yet. So I'm sending all my good wishes in addition to my suggestion from this afternoon.
Best wishes, Maria
Dear Maria, everything's fine! 🙂 We're delighted that you've discovered us! And feedback like this is also important to us. We know the problem and are working on a solution - but unfortunately it's not that easy to implement. But I'll take the issue up again! Keep having fun with Maschenfein and knitting! Sophia
Dear Sophia, thank you so much for the cozy coffee! It always brings relaxation and joy....especially in dark and difficult times!
All the best for you, but especially for Marisa
and lots of confidence 🍀🍀🍀
Karin
Hello Sophia,
I always look forward to your blog, the great suggestions.
But when I click on something in the store, regardless of the category, and want to go back, I'm back at the beginning or on the start page instead of the previous model etc. It's very tedious with your many offers. This is very tedious with your many offers. It would be nice if you could install this.
Have a relaxing weekend, Maria
Hello everyone,
Lots of strength and confidence for Marisa and her family.
I have been very impressed over the years by how Maschenfein has grown, how obviously well your cooperation works over these distances and what warm-hearted people have come together here.
You will cast a net for them.
Best regards
Sabine
Hi there,
again so many beautiful ideas. Thanks for the weekend inspiration and of course all the love and good thoughts for Marisa and her family! With your ideas you have already helped me through many a difficult time! Sending lots of positive energy!
Best regards
Meike
Hello lovelies, the 🎄pullovers are super pretty. I like the one for children even better because the trees glow so beautifully green. I'm looking forward to the kits for adults.
Best wishes, Brigitte
Hello, as is so often the case at the weekend, I'm delighted to see the new issue today.
I took a closer look at the Pinta wool from Pascuali to make a color selection, but unfortunately I have to criticize that actually only the label is photographed and the colors are more to guess than to see. What a pity. Can you do something about that?
Best regards
Stephanie Faustig
Dear Stephanie, I don't quite understand. When you look at the yarn(https://www.maschenfein.com/produkt/pinta-schurwolle-seide-ramie/), I don't see any labels when you click on the individual colors. And if you click on "larger view", you get even larger photos on the left. Which link do you have? Best regards, Sophia
